Contraception
Your doctor will be happy to give advice on all forms of contraception including implants and coils.. If a female patient wants a coil (Intra-uterine contraceptive device or IUCD) fitted – she will need an examination by the doctor before it is fitted and then an appointment for the actual fitting in a session when the doctor and nurse are working together.
Emergency: We are happy to provide emergency contraception (ie. morning after pill/coil) you can book an emergency appointment to get advice from a Doctor.
We would like to remind patients that this is a fully confidential service and patients aged under 16 can always talk with a doctor if they feel they need advice. Their health and safety is our top priority although we would hope they have someone who can help and support them we would not turn them away if this is not the case.
Patients Over The Age Of 75
We are happy to offer once-yearly health-checks for all patients over 75 who want them and will be glad to arrange a visit to anyone who is housebound and cannot get to the practice.
Minor Surgery
Removal of some “lumps and bumps”, skin tags (where they rub on clothing or become frequently infected) and some other things such as cysts and cryotherapy (freezing) for warts and veruccas is carried out by several of the doctors. In addition Dr. Barhey, Dr Rahman and Dr Sarkar carry out some joint injections but all these procedures can only be booked when one of the GPs has recommended them so please do not just ring to book an appointment as we may not be able to offer the procedure you are hoping to have carried out.
Cervical Smear Tests
Cancer of the cervix is very treatable if diagnosed early and we advise all women aged 25 to 49 should have a smear test every 3 years. Women aged 50 – 64 years have 5 yearly smears. The test aims to find early warning cells which can be treated before the risk of progressing to cancer. Appointments can be made with the nurse – just let the receptionist know you need a test and an appropriate appointment will be made.

Patients with Diabetes, Asthma, Chronic Obstructive Airways Disease and Heart Disease are invited to attend our review at least once a year. If you have more than one of these conditions we will try to do all the needed checks and tests in on longer appointment.
